The Dragon Series

The Way of the Dragon 2011

Like many people Jim Barrass has a fascination with the rich symbolism of dragons.  They are a symbol of power and excellence  for both Chinese and Japanese cultures, and are found in myths and legends in many of the countries in the world. Jim finds himself turning often to dragons as a source of inspiration and the result is this rich and evocative series of paintings in Jim’s signature colours and style.

Many of the paintings in the series are in the triptych format, three identical canvases which when hung together make up the whole. This makes them easy to carry as on-board luggage or to ship anywhere in the world, and Jim’s dragons now reside in many places in the world.
